The Nash Weight Loss Surgery pragram was a joint development between Nash and Southern Surgical Associates. It was developed in 2007 and it is currently in the process of becoming a Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery. Nash General Hospital management has been very supportive in making the program possible and is committed to making it one of the best bariatric surgery programs in the state. Clincal management of bariatric patients at Nash would not be possible without Shannon Hinkle, PA-C, who has been a critical component of the sucess of the program. The business aspect of the program is managed by the very capable Amy Winham. Of course, the latest addition to our Weight Loss Program is Christina Coggin, Administrative Assistant, who has added tremendous organization to the ever busier bariatric clinics.

Shannon Hinkle, PA-C, Bariatric Coordinator

Originally from Atlanta Georgia, Hinkle has more than 20 years of operating room experience in roles ranging from scrub tech to nurse to physician assistant. With an extensive background in orthopaedics and bariatric surgery, she has been with Nash Health Care since 2006, and serves as the Nash Surgical Weight Loss program’s physician assistant and coordinator. Shannon brings much more than her expertise to Nash Health Care—two of her family members have had successful gastric bypass surgery, so she understands the challenges and rewards of the entire process. She earned her RN in 1990 from Kennesaw State University in Marietta, Georgia and graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University PA School in Nashville Tennessee in 1997.  She is a board certified PA and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
In her spare time she enjoys laughing and playing with her son as well as attending rock concerts and sporting events.

Amy Winham, Bariatric Program Manager

Amy is the manager for the Bariatrics program as well as the Orthopedics services. Both Amy and Shannon are currently hard at work in making Nash Weight Loss Surgery a Center of Excellence Program.

 

Christina Coggin, Bariatric Administrative Assistant

Christina is the administrative assistant of the Bariatrics program. She coordinates all aspect of the day-to-day functions of the bariatric program. If you need an appointment, you will be helped by Christina. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact her at 252-451-6503.
