Dr. Kenneth G. MacDonald, Jr. is a native of Vermont, who attended University of West Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Wake Forest. He then began his two decade academic career at East Carolina University, where he established himself as one of the world's foremost authorities in Bariatric Surgery. His credits are far too long to enumerate here but they include Presidency of American Society of Bariatric Surgery (ASBS), current chair of ASBS ethics committee, numerous research projects including participation in the initial American clinical trial of the LAP BAND. He joined Southern Surgical Associated in January 2007. His primary area of interest is bariatric surgery and his experience includes well over 1000 obesity procedures. His other area of equal interest is pancreatic and liver surgery.
