Our mission: To provide the best
surgical care to our patients, with knowledge and
compassion, using the latest technology available.
Even though our practice
is new, we have been designated as a Center of Excellence
for Bariatric Surgery by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of
North Carolina.
Sourthern Surgical specializes in General Surgery, however,
each of our surgeons has specific areas of concentration or
interest. Those areas include:
Laparoscopic
Surgery
Laparoscopic Surgery is
perfomed through a minimally invasive approach (keyhole
surgery), using small incisions with the help of a camera,
thus decreasing the degree of patient discomfort and
recovery time. While it is often desirable to have
operations performed through laparoscopic technique, not
all procedures lend themselves to this approach. The
following are some of the procedures that we perrform
laproscopically:
* Gastric Bypass surgery for morbid obesity
* Gallbladder surgery for gallstones or gallbladder
dysfunction
* Heartburn surgery (Nissen Fundoplication)
* Hernia surgery
* Colon surgery for cancer or benign disease
(diverticulosis, diverticulitis)
* Small intestinal surgery
* Spleen surgery (removal)
* Adrenal gland surgery
* Surgery for adhesions
* Surgery for Achalasi
Breast
Surgery
Breast surgery is an
ever-changing specialty. Our surgeons use a new technique
called "Mammosite", a minimally inavasive approach to
breast surgery, which delivers radiation therapy to the
breast in five days rather than the traditional six weeks.
Our surgeons perform the following procedures:
* Sentinal Lymph Node biopsy
* Lumpectomy and Axillary Lymph Node biopsy
* Mastectomy
Open
Surgery
There are some operations
best performed using the "open" technique. The following
are open procedures performed by our surgeons:
* Pancreatic surgery for cancer or benign disease
* Liver surgery for cancer or benign disease
* Hemorrhoid surgery using minimally invasive approach with
PPH
